As of 2018 the Internet of Things Market is gaining momentum both in Japan and Overseas, as many IoT projects are moving from the theoretical phase to the commercial phase. Japan is now seeing an explosion in IoT activity not only in traditional areas like healthcare, manufacturing and transportation but in new areas like smart islands, smart airports and even smart cosmetics. AI, cheap wireless connectivity, blockchain and robotics are all being integrated into these services to make better solutions but issues like IoT security and IoT platforms remain a challenge for many organizations.
