## Industrie 4.0とはなにか

Industrie 4.0は、ドイツ政府が2025年頃達成を目標にしている生産技術イノベーションの総称である。原文のIndustrieは、英語のIndustryの複数形ではなくドイツ語の「産業」を指すため、以降の記述はIndustrieを用いる。acatech（ドイツ工学アカデミー）が、2013年4月にドイツ語版と英語版で最終提言を公開したものが現状最新版である。

なぜドイツがこのような国策イノベーションを発表したかについては、文部科学省所管の独立行政法人である科学技術振興機構の研究開発戦略センターが発表した「次世代製造技術の研究開発ドイツ編」に詳しい。ITを含むドイツ産業界が一丸となり、Industrie 4.0を第4の産業革命と位置付け、特に注力しているのがスマートファクトリーとCPS（Cyber-Physical Systems）である。CPSは、インターネットの仮想空間を指すサイバーと、フィジカル、つまり実物としての工場・生産設備・機器の相互運用を可能とする技術の総称で、既に存在する技術とCPS技術を組み合せることにより、ドイツの国際的な競争力を強化する狙いである。

Industrie 4.0がドイツ版イノベーションとすれば、2012年にGE社が提唱したコンセプトがIndustrial Internetである。両者は、産業の発展段階の捉え方に違いがあるものの、ほとんど同じ狙いといってよいだろう。Industrial Internetでは「デジタルと機械を調和」することで、飛躍的な生産性向上と収益拡大を図るとしている。また、Industrial InternetとIoT（Internet of Things）を合体させたキーワードであるIIoT（Industrial Internet of Things）も認知され始めている。さらに、日本政府の施策であるIT融合も、考え方はIIoTと同じといってよい。
